My memories of Cedric are as a gifted member of the MSSL engineering team, bringing his skills as an artist and technology enthusiast to the challenges of successful space instrument design - long before computers intervened. His mechanical drawings were both meticulous and ingenious with an almost calligraphic touch. His dry sense of humour was an asset much appreciated. In an email exchange from a while ago I found the following: “I'm building a radio controlled Pterodactyl and was wondering what sound they would have emitted, and then remembered (name removed)’s  laugh echoing down the corridor at Holmbury.  Perfect!” A fitting tribute!
